How falatheo works

Free app for the child
iPhone and Android, 100% offline, no ads and no account needed. Boards with Fitzgerald colors, words that never move, ready-made phrases, a keyboard and the device's own Portuguese voice.
You edit remotely
Build and adjust boards in the portal, with a symbol library and photos, and send them to the child's device. The family connects the app with a 6-digit code or QR code. Every change is kept in the version history.
Sending boards to the device is coming to the family app in upcoming versions. When it is available, the family just updates the app from the store.
Family and school join for free
Invite by email or with a WhatsApp link. Everyone has a role: the family follows the child, the special-education (AEE) teacher looks after school boards, and each person only sees what you share.
Assessment, goals and sessions
Record the assessment, the trial period, goals per communicative function, and sessions linked to each goal, with prompt level and modeling.
PDF reports
School report (PEI/PAEE, the Brazilian individual education plans), health-plan report and family summary, pre-filled from assessments, goals and sessions. You review and issue them under your professional registration.
Team diary and lessons for families
Family, school and therapists share one diary per child. You assign short modelling lessons and see who finished them. Any board can also be printed as a paper backup when needed.

The resolution from Brazil's Conselho Federal de Fonoaudiologia (CFFa), the federal council for speech-language pathology and audiology, sets out the speech-language pathologist's role in AAC: assess, recommend and implement the system, monitor and reassess, guide and train family and school, and issue technical opinions, reports and expert reports (laudos). falatheo's own workflow supports that work: assessment → trial → goals → sessions → reports, with family and school alongside. The clinical decision is always yours.
falatheo has no link to the CFFa, and citing the resolution does not mean the Council approves or recommends it.

Frequently asked questions
How does falatheo handle patient data (LGPD)?
The health data you record belongs to your practice: you or your clinic are the controller, and falatheo processes it on your behalf as the operator. When accepting the invitation, the child’s guardian gives specific, highlighted consent (LGPD, art. 14). The most sensitive fields are encrypted, important actions are recorded in an audit log, and data can be exported or deleted on request.
Does the app work without internet?
Yes. The communicator app works 100% offline: boards, phrases and voice live on the device. When you send a new board, it downloads as soon as the device is online and keeps working offline afterwards. The portal, where you edit and write reports, needs internet.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. The app is free on the App Store (iPhone and iPad) and Google Play (Android phones and tablets). The professional portal runs in the browser on a computer, tablet or phone, with nothing to install.
Which symbols can I use? ARASAAC and Mulberry?
In the portal, the library brings together Mulberry and OpenMoji symbols (open licenses) with Portuguese names, and ARASAAC pictograms, used under ARASAAC’s license. You can also use photos, which often work very well for the objects and people in the child’s routine. In the app, families can replace any button’s image with a photo in caregiver mode.
What does the family see?
The family uses the app for free and, in the portal, sees the child’s boards, the notes you choose to share with the family, and the progress summary you generate. App usage data is only sent if the guardian authorizes it, and that can be withdrawn at any time. Private notes are never shown to the family. Teachers only see what is shared with the school.
Do families or schools have to pay?
No. The communicator app is free forever, with no ads and no account required. Families and teachers you invite use the portal for free. The professional or clinic is the one who subscribes.
What if I don’t subscribe after 14 days?
Your account goes back to the Free plan and no data is deleted. The child’s app is never blocked because of billing.
